Farewell for Dr and Mrs Vallance

Gift to Dr Vallance from SGSWA

​On behalf of the Women’s Association and all the parents at the school, we commissioned the artist and old boy Julian Meagher to produce an artwork for Dr Vallance as a parting gift.  Thank you for helping make our beautiful boys into fine and decent men.

It's a symbolic student, no one in particular but representing all the boys that Dr Vallance has inspired and supported over the years. Wearing the grey grammar jumper and with unkept hair, this boy is looking into the future. I wanted this work to partly mirror some of Dr Vallance’s personality. The marks are progressive and sensitive. Humble and powerful.
